The Hurricanes agreed to terms Friday with goaltender Michael Leighton on a one-year contract.

The county attorney prosecuting Eric Staal said Thursday there have been no pleas and that he has not made any reductions in the charges against the 14 people arrested at Staal's bachelor party early Saturday morning.

Hurricanes star Eric Staal and his brother, Jordan Staal of the Penguins, were arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process at Eric Staal's bachelor party at a Minnesota resort.

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Andrew Hutchinson, center Joe Barnes and a third round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for center Matt Cullen.
