Sharks Sign Defensive-Minded Ortmeyer

AP - Jed Ortmeyer is among five players who have agreed to one-year deals with the Sharks on Thursday, as reported by the Associated Press.

Ortmeyer spent the past two seasons in the Predators, after three years with the Rangers. The forward played 51 games with Nashville in the 2007-08 season before injuring his knee and spending most of last season in the minors.

San Jose also re-signed right wing Ryan Vesce, who made his NHL debut with the Sharks last season.

The Sharks also signed center Dwight Helminen and defensemen Joe Callahan and Danny Groulx. [READ]
