AP - It was a historic night for the NHL as its two biggest stars had their biggest playoff performances head-to-head.

Alex Ovechkin broke a tie with a pair of goals less than 3 minutes apart in the third period Monday night in the Capitals’ 4-3 win over the Penguins, according to an Associated Press report.

Sidney Crosby notched his first postseason hat trick for the Penguins, a consolation prize in the loss.
