Sharks Defeat Detroit In 6-5 Thriller

Christopher Reina/RealGM - The Sharks hosted the Red Wings on Saturday night in San Jose in a battle of two of the best teams in the NHL. In a game with several lead changes, San Jose defeated Detroit 6-5.

Ryane Clowe had four assists including the game-decider on a breakaway by Patrick Marleau that moved the score to 6-4.

Marleau's goal followed another breakaway by Milan Michalek.

Brian Rafalski scored for the Red Wings with just under two minutes remaining in the 3rd period, which pressed Evgeni Nabokov during the final seconds.

San Jose converted two out of their three power play opportunities, while Detroit went 1-for-3. The Red Wings were unable to score at the beginning of the 3rd period with a man advantage following a scrum that occurred after the horn at the end of the 2nd period. [READ]
