| 15th September, 2008 - 10:57 am | St. Petersburg Times - Lightning goalie Karri Ramo is heading into the season hoping to land a featured role with the team, according to St. Petersburg Times.
Unless Ramo lands the top gig, he'll likely be sent to the minors in order to get time on the ice.
"If he's the best goalie here, he'll start," coach Barry Melrose said. "I believe in competition. But when the time comes, it's about long term. It's no good for him being the No. 2 goalie. He's got to play games."
"It gives me more motivation," Ramo said. "Nothing comes for free. You have to work hard. I'm just 22 years old. I have a lot of time, but I'm not just going to give in. My mind is on starting the season in the NHL. I'm not thinking about the AHL at all." [READ] |
