Detroit: Yzerman Not Coming Out Of Retirement
12th September, 2008 - 11:44 am
Detroit Free-Press - Red Wings vice president Steve Yzerman is not coming out of retirement in November, despite a text message that is being sent to PDAs and mobile phones.

The Red Wings' Web site offers a mobile news service that claims to deliver "the latest on Red Wings' players and upcoming events, while also providing up-to-the-minute scores, game recaps and box scores."

A Free Press reporter signed up for the service Thursday night after receiving a tip from a reader. The fifth message received said: "Breaking news. Steve Yzerman will come out of reitrement and return to the ice in Mid November. Come to the Joe to catch the action!"

Team spokesman John Hahn replied to an e-mail seeking information about the text message Thursday night and wrote: "I can't speak to the text system issue, but Steve is definitely not coming out of retirement." [READ]
