| 27th May, 2008 - 5:11 pm |  Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Jonathan Sigalet from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the rights to left wing Matt Marquardt, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Marquardt was Columbus’ 10th pick, 194th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft.
Sigalet, 22, was Boston’s fourth pick, 100th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft. He appeared in one game with the Bruins during the 2006-07 season and has spent most of the past three years with the Providence Bruins, Boston’s American Hockey League affiliate. He has registered 21 goals and 60 assists for 81 points with 154 penalty minutes and a +44 plus/minus rating in 195 career AHL games. He collected 3-20-23 with 58 penalty minutes and was +20 in 70 games during the 2007-08 season and added 0-3-3 with 12 penalty minutes and was +6 in 10 Calder Cup Playoffs games.
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Sigalet played two seasons at Bowling Green University from 2003-05. In 72 career games with the Falcons, he registered 6-25-31 and 62 penalty minutes, including a career-high 3-13-16 and 36 penalty minutes in 2004-05. After signing with the Bruins, he made his professional debut with Providence in 2005-06 and led all club defensemen in scoring with 9-27-36 and 59 penalty minutes in 75 games. [READ] |
